Create a separate chat space for coordinating associated software (Pillbug) development?

I think it might be worth trialing a channel in the Zulip in order to see if that works for this. Siloing off development for something that is being primarily designed to work with League software seems like it has the potential to cause a lot of friction.
Zulip background info: I've been working on getting it running for a week and am about to make it public; I and the other mods intend to keep conversations on there limited to work-related things, but anyone will be able to join. It is explicitly and primarily for coordinating League-related operations and software work. ("Operations" may include governance work, since it's going to be a lot easier to coordinate on something that's not designed as Gamer IRC.)

I guess one compromise could be having a separate space for Pillbug development to occur in, but also setting that up such that any stewards can provide input in there as appropriate even before considering things like the stewards as a whole having any kind of veto or other such power on aspects of development? Or there's also the possibility of requiring that a certain percentage of the ✨work, broadly✨ done on the project be done by stewards.
But yeah, having a chat space for development coordination where people not on the tech side don't have the technical aspects of stuff shoved into their notification boxes or whatever, and where the people working on the tech aren't having to deal with unnecessary non-tech discussion, could totally be helpful.

it is viv's project for sure, but it seems so linked to the website league, and its development will be so closely tied to the website league... i think it should be siloed enough to not overload a server, but not so much that it's not easy for WL users to check in on it and provide feedback. I think a zulip channel is good for this.

I guess I'm not entirely sure about splitting it off entirely from being a Website League thing, however, I do definitely feel like you shouldn't need to be a steward to contribute to its development.

See discord; I believe we need to achieve internal consensus and adding distance between the technical and governance parts of the project is very bad. Ideally, everyone'd have some stake in both, even if they mostly focus on one part. I'm onboard with a zulip channel.

each of the teams working on the different softwares need their own spaces. sometimes someone in one of those groups will need to ask questions to the stewards who are not working on it but otherwise anyone not actively working on it is only going to be annoyed by the noise made by those working on it. we can actually make it so that our construction isn't jack hammers going off in the room people are trying to organize in. why the fuck would we not do that?

if developers are giving updates and soliciting feedback here, i think that it works.

i will not be voting on this as i do not have any strong opinion.

it seems the zulip will work perfectly for this!

as noted in the outcome, the Zulip channel for this can be found here, folks: https://coordination.websiteleague.org/#narrow/stream/17-Development.3A-Pillbug
